The state chief secretary will serve as the committee’s chairman and make all decisions regarding the modalities and specifications for the prototype e-buses, according to the chief minister.
Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal, asked representatives of electric vehicle manufacturers to use contemporary technology to quickly produce state-specific prototype e-buses.
The state chief secretary will serve as the committee’s chairman as it establishes all the rules and requirements for the prototype e-buses, according to the chief minister.
According to Sukhu, the state government intends to designate the Parwanoo-Nalagarh-Una-Hamirpur-Nadaun-Dehra highway as a “Clean and Green” corridor and will build the necessary infrastructure in support of this. He continued, “The state government has mandated that other departments be provided e-vehicles in a phased manner. The state transport department is the first such department in the country to switch over to electric vehicles.
According to him, the state government plans to gradually replace the HRTC’s fleet of diesel buses with e-buses and to operate e-buses on inter-district routes in order to reduce carbon emissions and make Himachal Pradesh a “green energy state” by the year 2025.
