The business also announced the debut of the Honda e:Swap battery switching service in addition to the Honda Activa e: for India. The battery replacement service will be managed by Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited (HEID), a division of Honda Motor Co. Ltd. Two 1.5 kWh removable batteries will be included with the Honda Activa e. And it will be the only source of power for the scooter. The Activa e will be introduced in Bengaluru in February 2025, and then in Delhi and Mumbai in April 2025.

By registering for a membership on HEID’s mobile app, consumers can access the battery swap stations after buying an electric scooter. HEID will start providing two-wheeler battery exchange services in Mumbai and Delhi NCR in April 2025. As a result, HEID will be able to offer battery replacement services to more customers in the three biggest cities in India. As part of HEID’s continuous station expansion to handle the growing number of consumers, there will be 250 battery swapping stations in Bangalore, 150 in Delhi, and 100 in Mumbai by March 2026.

With the intention of introducing battery swapping services in India, first for electric auto rickshaws, HEID was founded in November 2021. Customers can swap their depleted Honda Mobile Power Pack e: batteries for fully charged ones at the nearest battery swap stations by using HEID’s battery switch service. Using this service reduces the initial cost of purchasing an EV significantly and eases concerns about range anxiety and battery run-outs because HEID owns the battery.
