Hyundai Motor Company celebrated reaching a significant milestone: 100 million cars have been produced globally overall. Hyundai celebrated the milestone with a special event at its Ulsan Plant in Korea, which was essential to the expansion of the business.
During the event, Hyundai Motor gave a customer an IONIQ 5, its 100 millionth car, as a token of appreciation for their continued support. Highlighted by a display of ‘100 million and 1,’ the significant event demonstrated Hyundai’s unwavering determination to surpass its accomplishments and develop for the future.
“We aim to take [Holder Motor Company] ‘one step further’ toward another 100 million units, becoming a game-changer in mobility,” stated Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO.
The Ulsan Plant, which was founded in 1968, is credited with establishing Korea’s automobile industry and creating the Pony, the country’s first mass-produced independent vehicle, in 1975. With the construction of a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) facility, the plant serves as a focal point for Hyundai’s electrification initiatives.
Hyundai’s President and Head of Domestic Productions, Dong Seock Lee, commended the company’s workers for their perseverance and commitment, emphasizing that reaching 100 million units is just the start of Hyundai’s journey towards becoming a leader in the electrification of the future.
The growth of Hyundai’s luxury Genesis and high-performance N brands, as well as the introduction of EV models like the IONIQ 5, all contribute to the company’s success. 2013 saw the firm surpass 50 million car production thanks in part to its global manufacturing base, which includes plants in Turkey, India, the US, and the Czech Republic.
Through the Hyundai Motor Group Global Innovation Center in Singapore, Hyundai is advancing innovation in the automotive industry by introducing smart technologies and new manufacturing platforms. Future production locations will use these innovations to increase productivity as Hyundai continues to pursue excellence and the title of world leader in the mobility industry.
