Hyundai Motor Company has introduced the INSTEROID, a gaming-inspired concept car based on its compact electric SUV, the INSTER. Unveiled at a ‘Night Garage Party’ in Seoul, this concept merges gaming aesthetics with automotive design to appeal to a new generation of drivers.
Developed by Hyundai’s European design team, the INSTEROID features a widened body, track-optimized wheels, an aerodynamic wing spoiler, and distinctive gaming-inspired elements. The interior is stripped down, equipped with bucket seats and a futuristic instrument cluster, emphasizing a blend of performance and immersive experience.
Simon Loasby, Senior Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center, described the INSTEROID as “a celebration of pure fun,” aiming to ignite emotion and imagination in every detail. He emphasized that the concept invites everyone to dream louder and smile longer.
To complement the physical concept, Hyundai has developed an in-house video game featuring the INSTEROID, accessible via web browser. This initiative aims to enhance engagement and interest in the concept among gaming enthusiasts and potential customers.
The INSTEROID is based on the INSTER production model, which is already available in select markets under the name Casper Electric. The vehicle is set to launch in Korea this summer, followed by Europe and Asia, with a starting price below $26,000.
Through the INSTEROID concept, Hyundai aims to bridge the gap between automotive design and gaming culture, offering a unique and immersive experience that resonates with modern consumers.
