In order to discuss the future of mobility and potential areas of cooperation between the two nations, the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi, met with Euisun Chung, Executive Chairman of the Hyundai Motor Group. The meeting, which was held in the Prime Minister’s office in Delhi, also included Mr. Tarun Garg, the Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL).
The discussions focused on India’s evolving mobility landscape, with Exeutive Chairman Chung emphasizing Hyundai’s commitment to the country given its thriving market and progressive legislative reforms. During the discussion, Chung expressed gratitude to the Indian government for continuing to support Hyundai Motor Group’s commercial activities in India, which began in 1996. He also invited Prime Minister Modi to the opening of HMIL’s new manufacturing plant in Pune, Maharashtra, as part of an attempt to promote India’s “Make in India” initiative.
The significance of the meeting was highlighted by Chung’s attendance at the HMIL Stock Exchange Listing Ceremony, which represented the Group’s strategic objectives for expansion in India. The fresh investment in the Pune factory, which has the backing of the Indian and Maharashtra governments, is seen as a game-changer for HMIL. This program aligns with India’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” goal, which seeks to make significant progress in marking the nation’s 100th anniversary of independence.
Chung praised Hyundai’s lengthy history in India and claimed that the support of the Indian people and government has allowed the company to rise to become the country’s second-largest automaker. Hyundai intends to solidify its position as India’s “Most Trusted Brand” and “Home Brand,” he said.
