In a bid to boost India’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, IGowise Mobility and Patnaik Renewable Energy have announced a joint initiative to roll out 5,000 mobile EV power banks across the country.
The companies plan to deploy these portable energy units by the end of 2025, with a focus on urban areas and tier-2 cities where fixed charging stations are less accessible. These EV power banks are expected to offer quick, on-demand charging support, especially for two- and three-wheel electric vehicles.
IGowise Mobility, known for its smart mobility solutions, will lead the technology integration, while Patnaik Energy will handle the renewable energy sourcing and grid integration. The collaboration aims to ensure the power banks run on green energy, aligning with India’s clean energy goals.
According to company officials, each mobile unit will be equipped with fast-charging capabilities and AI-based tracking for real-time location and usage data. This feature will allow EV users to locate and reserve the nearest available unit via a mobile app.
The partnership is part of a broader strategy to reduce EV range anxiety and promote faster adoption in semi-urban and rural regions. Officials stated that the project will also generate employment opportunities for technicians and local support staff.
Both companies say they are currently in talks with state governments and city municipalities to secure permits and operational support. Pilot deployments are expected to begin in Bengaluru and Bhubaneswar within the next quarter.
