One of the top tractor exporters, International Tractors (ITL), a member of the Sonalika Group, has purchased the German company Thaler for Rs 200 crore through its Dutch subsidiary, Solis Tractors & Agricultural Machinery.

Thaler specialises in the production of wheel loaders, and its high-end wheel loaders in the 19-75 HP range will complement ITL’s advanced product line. With annual sales of more than 80,000 units, the company claims that the wheel loader market has enormous growth potential. Following the acquisition, Thaler will continue to operate under the same name and be run by Manfred Thaler, MD, who is also the son of Johann Thaler, the company’s founder.

The move will allow ITL to maximize its production capacities and network in Europe which will add to its growth trajectory in the region. In India, Solis has collaborated with Japanese agri-tech expert Yanmar to develop premium technology-powered tractors.

“We are pleased to announce the acquisition of Thaler under our Netherlands-based entity Solis Tractors & Agricultural Machinery and we will invest Rs 200 crore for the deal,” said Dr. Deepak Mittal, MD, International Tractors. Thaler is a well-known wheel loader manufacturer in Europe and a leading brand in the industry. It is renowned for its dependability and skill in creating cutting-edge technologies. Wheel loaders will benefit our portfolio as the largest tractor exporter from India because of their enormous potential for construction, agriculture, and dairy work in the EU and USA markets. The move will bolster our current presence in more than 140 countries around the world and undoubtedly bring high-end synergies to the ITL agri-equipment portfolio.

Manfred Thaler, Owner, Thaler said, “We are pleased and excited about this acquisition by ITL Group and we believe that this acquisition will bring the ITL expertise into the wheel loader segment. ITL has a proven record in the tractor segment and they have the largest tractor manufacturing plant in India. Their experience in the industry will enrich the Thaler brand & its employees.”
