Kazam, India’s leading EV charging solutions provider has announced a strategic partnership with Yuma Energy, a joint venture between Magna International and Yulu Bikes.

This collaboration aims to integrate Yuma’s battery-swapping units into Kazam’s Park & Charge (P&C) hubs across the country, enhancing convenience for commercial EV drivers. This will allow the users of Yuma’s partner OEMs to quickly replace depleted batteries with fully charged ones, enabling them to resume their routes within minutes. The nationwide rollout of the collaboration officially commenced at Mahadevapura Park & Charge, Bangalore.

Kazam, which provides both software and hardware solutions for various EV ecosystem players, currently operates 60 Park & Charge hubs in 10 states, where 3000 vehicles charge daily. In addition, Kazam manages another 200 hubs in partnership with major brands, including Zypp and BigBasket, across 81 Indian cities. These hubs are frequented primarily by two- and three-wheeler drivers in the e-commerce and last-mile logistics sectors, where rapid battery swapping is a significant advantage.

The Park & Charge model, launched by Kazam in 2023, was designed to provide safe, dedicated charging spaces for commercial EV drivers. In addition to charging, the hubs offer facilities for rest and refreshment, supporting thousands of delivery workers across India. Since their inception, Kazam’s hubs have powered over 1 GWh of energy, facilitating over 22 million green kilometers and contributing to a reduction in carbon emissions in the logistics sector.

Yuma Energy is one of India’s largest Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) companies, on a mission to build a sustainable future by making mobility accessible, affordable and carbon free through reliable, convenient and efficient energy-as-a-service solutions.

As a company with a technology DNA, Yuma Energy leverages data deeply in decision-making, system and process designs and on-ground execution to run the most reliable battery swapping network in the country with a 99% uptime and an average swap time of under 1-minute. Yuma Energy has completed 20+ million swaps and powered 800+ million kilometres of green journeys.

‘’This partnership builds on the synergies between the two companies to develop a strong ecosystem for the E-mobility industry, Kazam’s Park & Charge Hubs, with their robust electric power infrastructure, will play a pivotal role in accelerating the deployment of our advanced battery-swapping stations, bringing faster and more convenient energy solutions to EV users.’’ said Deepak Nanwani, Head of Revenue & Operations, Yuma Energy.

Muthu Subramanian, GM & MD of Yuma Energy quoted, “Partnering with Kazam allows us to expedite the establishment of new Yuma stations, effectively catering to the rapidly growing user base of Yuma. This collaboration ensures we meet the increasing demands with efficiency”

“We’re thrilled to join hands with Yuma,” said Paras Shah, COO and Co-founder of Kazam, “This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission of decarbonizing last mile deliveries. By integrating Yuma’s battery swapping modules within Kazam’s Park and Charge hubs, the transition to green has become that much easier for any fleet operator or E-commerce company.”

This partnership between Kazam and Yuma exemplifies the collaborative momentum within the EV industry, aiming to scale up EV adoption by expanding critical infrastructure and ensuring operational efficiency for fleet drivers. With this new battery-swapping service, Kazam and Yuma are poised to transform the logistics landscape, empowering drivers with rapid, flexible charging solutions nationwide.
