Kerala is aggressively looking for both domestic and foreign investors to join its efforts in the electric vehicle (EV) production sector. The goal is to make Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital, a hub for automotive technology.
P Rajeeve, Kerala’s Minister of Industries, highlighted the state’s leadership in EV sales, pointing out its strong ecosystem and effective e-charging infrastructure. Rajeeve mentioned that talks regarding establishing manufacturing facilities in the state are now taking place with a number of businesses. He stated that additional foreign firms are expected to visit as well as Mahindra representatives who are scheduled for meetings next week. During a roadshow in Chennai, these remarks were given as part of the promotion for Kerala’s Global Investors Meet, which is scheduled for February of the following year.
Kerala’s commitment to strengthening its automotive technology support and development skills was reaffirmed by the Minister, notwithstanding the fact that the establishment of sizable automobile manufacturing plants in the state may be difficult.
The Kerala government and Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), the country’s fourth-biggest manufacturer, are currently negotiating the establishment of an electric vehicle (EV) production facility in the southern state of Kerala, which is known for having a high EV penetration rate. Should these talks be fruitful, the state’s industrial sector might be substantially strengthened, giving it a significant boost right before its Global Investment Meet (GIM), which is set for February of the following year.
