The imminent Kia EV4, the Korean automaker’s latest low-cost EV, was first noticed trial in Europe. The aspects of Kia’s EV4 electric automobile is comparable to that of Tesla’s Model 3.
During its first-ever EV Day in October of last year, Kia made its initial presentation of the EV4. Kia has added the EV4 to its lineup of affordable electric cars, which also includes the EV3 and EV5.
The EV5, a compact electric SUV that Kia unveiled in November, is priced at $35,000 (249,800 yuan) in China. The somewhat more costly Tesla Model Y, which has a starting price of 249,900 yuan, is anticipated to compete with Kia’s EV5.
Following the revelation last month that pre-orders for the EV3 will start at $30,700 (KRW 42.08 million) in Korea, Kia confirmed this week that the EV3 will start to retail for $42,300 (£32,995) in the UK.
Prior to the EV3’s release later this year, Kia has already begun testing its next low-cost EV abroad. Official sightings of Kia’s electric vehicle testing on European roads have been reported, according to AutoExpress.
Kia’s future EV4 will be powered by Hyundai’s E-GMP system, just as the EV3. Though Kia has not yet disclosed official specs, battery and range options are expected to be similar to those of the EV3.
The EV3 will have two battery pack options: 58.3 kWh and 81.48 kWh, with a WLTP range of up to 267 miles (430 km) and 372 miles (600 km), respectively. The EV4 is anticipated to have quick charging (10% to 80%) in 30 minutes with a 400V system.
Earlier this month, Kia’s EV4 was sighted in Korea, showcasing its unique rear-end appearance. According to Kia, the EV4 is a “wholly new type of EV sedan.”
With Kia’s new ccNC infotainment system, the EV4’s interior will resemble that of the EV3. The 12.3′′ dual driver and navigator screens on Kia’s next-generation system support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
According to Kia, the EV3 is “the most affordable way of purchasing a new zero-emissions vehicle.”
Kia revealed that the price range for the EV3 and EV4 will be $35,000 to $50,000 worldwide. Starting at $51,300 (£39,900) in the UK, the Tesla Model 3 has a WLTP range of up to 318 miles (512 km). With the scarcity of Model 3-sized EVs on the market, the Kia EV4 may find a market in Europe, as AutoExpress notes.
Before the end of 2024, Kia is anticipated to formally unveil the EV4, and sales are scheduled to begin the following year.
Kia plans to launch 15 electric vehicles (EVs) in Europe by 2027, including the EV3 and EV4. In Europe, Kia sold about 81,000 EVs last year, a 23% increase over 2022.
Just over 4% of sales in Europe were accounted for by Kia. However, the business anticipates a rise in that figure with the introduction of new, reasonably priced electric vehicles like the EV3 and EV4.
In 23 days, the EV3 in Korea was able to collect over 10,000 reservations. Kia’s selection is growing rapidly, with the EV4 set to launch the following year. As the market moves toward electric vehicles, the Korean automaker will be one to keep a careful eye on.
