Kia Motors on Monday lifted the curtain on the interior of its Concept EV2 at the company’s design studio in Seoul, showcasing a forward-looking layout aimed at redefining city driving.

The Concept EV2 interior emphasizes maximum space utilization, with a flat floor and reimagined seating layout that creates a lounge-like environment. Kia designers have opened up legroom and sightlines, allowing passengers to face each other or enjoy unobstructed views of the road ahead.

Key user-centric features include seat-integrated speakers for immersive audio, detachable cushion modules that double as portable seating, and a modular “plug-and-play” rail system for easy reconfiguration of the cabin. These elements are intended to adapt the EV2 to diverse urban lifestyles—from mobile offices to family outings.

Sustainability lies at the heart of the concept’s material palette. Kia is employing Simplifyber Fybron™, a lightweight composite spun from recycled polyester, alongside mycelium-based seat substrates and AmpliTex™ woven textiles made from upcycled automotive waste. Collectively, these choices aim to reduce the interior’s carbon footprint by more than 30 percent compared with current models.

The automaker says the circular-economy approach extends beyond components to end-of-life recovery, with all interior parts designed for disassembly and recycling. Kia envisions the Concept EV2 as a test bed for future production vehicles, reinforcing its target of achieving carbon neutrality across its fleet by 2045.

Kia will put the Concept EV2 through a public showcase tour later this year, including stops at major motor shows in Tokyo and Los Angeles. Full specifications and potential production timelines are expected to be announced in late 2025.
