Kia has made an exciting addition to its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the PV5, a mid-size car-derived van (CDV), designed under its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy. The launch took place during the 2025 Kia EV Day in Tarragona, Spain, showcasing the brand’s commitment to revolutionizing the electric vehicle market with innovative designs.
Set to debut in Korea and Europe by the second half of 2025, the PV5 is expected to be available in other global markets by 2026. The vehicle’s pre-orders are anticipated to open in the first half of 2025, with production models rolling out progressively between 2025 and 2026.
Built on Kia’s cutting-edge E-GMP.S platform, the PV5 offers impressive versatility, accommodating various body types including passenger, cargo, and chassis cab variants. This design makes it adaptable for a wide range of uses, from freight delivery to passenger transport, catering to both commercial and personal needs.
The PV5 comes with two battery options: a 51.5kWh or a 71.2kWh NCM battery, while the cargo version is equipped with a 43.3kWh LFP battery. It also features a 120kW front motor delivering 250Nm of torque. This powertrain provides a driving range of up to 400 kilometers, with fast-charging capabilities that can recharge the battery from 10-80% in just 30 minutes.
Further enhancing its practicality, the PV5 is equipped with an infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS, offering seamless over-the-air (OTA) updates. Additionally, the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature allows users to power external devices directly from the vehicle, making it even more versatile for various needs.
With the PV5, Kia sets a new benchmark for electric mobility, offering a flexible, efficient, and eco-friendly solution for both businesses and consumers alike.
