System-on-chip (SoC) technology powers a new battery management system (BMS) diagnostic solution that LG Energy Solution has unveiled in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. The new software, integrated within the Snapdragon Digital ChassisTM, sets a new benchmark for electric vehicle (EV) energy management with its unparalleled safety and efficiency diagnostics.
To speed up the sale of these innovative items, the two companies have partnered to create a cooperative promotion agreement. Following this milestone, they have already launched a technical collaboration to develop next-generation BMS diagnostic technologies.
The state-of-the-art BMS from LG Energy Solution gives manufacturers improved diagnostic capabilities for cloud services and human-machine interfaces (HMI) by utilizing the Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud Connected Services Platform.
LG Energy Solution’s innovation leverages robust SoC computational capabilities, which sets it apart from traditional BMS systems that rely on inferior technology. Key features include real-time data analysis without the need for an external server, lifespan and deterioration forecast capabilities, and advanced safety diagnostics.
This action is consistent with LG Energy Solution’s previously announced strategic goal of expanding into software and services. The company introduced its new brand, “B.around,” which provides a variety of software-defined vehicle (SDV) and cloud-based safety diagnostic solutions with artificial intelligence (AI) integrated.
With over 8,000 patents and over 20 years of BMS design experience, LG Energy Solution boasts industry-leading metrics including a 90% safety diagnostic detection rate and a 1% degradation diagnostic mistake rate.
