Lynk & Co. intends to enter the US market with its upcoming all-electric vehicle. The new EV model will replace the 01 plug-in hybrid compact SUV when it goes on sale in 2024. According to Visser, the electric car is being developed to comply with US regulations, according to Automotive News Europe.
Although there is still work to be done, Visser said, ” is definitely very high on my agenda and I am confident it will work here. The executive claimed that Lynk & Co plans to use the same subscriptions strategy it has employed in Europe, where it sold about 28,000 cars last year, for the US launch.
Customers are open to the subscription sales model, despite the fact that it differs from the conventional ways cars are sold, according to Visser. Customers pay €550 ($585) per month for the 01 SUV in almost all of Lynk & Co’s subscription-based sales in Europe.
In accordance with this business strategy, Lynk & Co. keeps ownership of the car throughout the subscription. According to Visser, the company would need to figure out how to work around local selling laws in the US because its business model presupposes that the majority of customers will transact online.
The executive claimed that US franchise laws are “insanely complicated” earlier this year at the 2023 CES. In addition, the upcoming Lynk & Co EV would need some revisions for US homologation, which would allow for a market entry after 2024. In late 2024, Lynk & Co. intends to begin selling the same vehicle in Europe.
