With a two-year initial deal, Marelli has announced a new role with Nissan Formula E Team as its technical partner.

With more than a century of experience as a technology partner in the automotive and racing sectors, Marelli is dedicated to collaborating with customers and partners to advance mobility.

The Nissan Formula E Team may benefit from Marelli Motorsport’s experience thanks to this cooperation, which might help with car development in upcoming seasons. Through this partnership, Marelli, which is renowned for its inventiveness and production skills, hopes to demonstrate its technological know-how in the electrified motorsport space.

Additionally, Marelli’s branding will be shown on the team’s garage, the back wing of both Nissan e-4ORCE 05 vehicles, and other marketing materials.

Tommaso Volpe, the managing director and team principal of the Nissan Formula E Team, stated that Marelli Motorsport brings a wealth of industry experience to the collaboration. He emphasized the team’s focus on exploring collaborative potential in control systems development and conveyed confidence in the alignment with Marelli Motorsport.

Riccardo De Filippi, the CEO of Marelli Motorsport, said he was thrilled about the company’s entry into the Formula E market as part of its partnership with Nissan. He also emphasized the opportunity to strengthen Marelli’s relationship with Nissan in the motorsport and road car markets, and he is eager to contribute technically to the team’s development.

Launched in 2014, Formula E is an all-electric racing series with the goal of advancing environmentally friendly motorsport mobility. The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) oversees it, and its single-seater electric cars race on global urban circuits. The competition provides a forum for the development and testing of electric vehicle technologies, such as improvements in power management, battery efficiency, and electric powertrain systems, by automakers and IT companies.

Formula E promotes city-based electrification while showcasing electric motorsport to a wide audience through races conducted in major cities like Berlin, Rome, and New York. One of the series’ distinctive features is “Fan Boost,” which lets viewers vote for drivers to be given more power in the race. By promoting innovation in electric mobility solutions through high-profile professional racing, Formula E aims to increase public awareness of electric vehicles and support the development of sustainable transportation.
