Maruti Suzuki has shared key performance insights into its highly anticipated electric SUV, the e-Vitara, spotlighting its acceleration capabilities and modern charging technology as part of its growing EV portfolio.

According to sources close to the development, the e-Vitara will be powered by a robust electric motor paired with advanced battery architecture, enabling it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in under 9 seconds. This marks a significant performance leap for Maruti, which is entering the electric vehicle segment with heightened focus on speed and responsiveness.

The vehicle will reportedly be based on a modified version of the Global C platform, tailored specifically for EV dynamics. This setup enhances chassis stability, weight distribution, and overall vehicle balance — critical components for fast acceleration and energy efficiency.

On the charging front, Maruti has confirmed that the e-Vitara will support both AC and DC fast charging. With DC fast charging, the vehicle is expected to charge up to 80% in around 50 minutes, making it a convenient choice for daily commuters and long-distance travelers alike.

Industry experts suggest that the e-Vitara’s competitive charging performance will help it rival current segment leaders like Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV. Furthermore, Maruti is planning to collaborate with charging infrastructure partners to expand fast-charging access across the country.

The e-Vitara is expected to make its market debut in 2025 and will be produced at Suzuki’s upcoming Gujarat EV facility. As India’s largest carmaker, Maruti’s foray into the EV space signals a major shift in the nation’s automotive future.
