In a pioneering move, Indian electric mobility startup Matter has launched the country’s first-ever lifetime battery warranty for its electric motorcycle, the Aera. This initiative, introduced under the ‘Matter Care’ program, aims to alleviate consumer concerns regarding battery longevity and replacement costs, which are significant barriers to electric vehicle (EV) adoption.
The lifetime warranty is a testament to Matter’s confidence in its in-house developed battery technology. By designing and manufacturing key components such as the battery pack and Battery Management System (BMS) internally, Matter ensures greater control over quality and performance. Extensive testing across diverse Indian terrains and climates has demonstrated the durability and reliability of their battery systems, enabling the company to offer this unprecedented warranty.
The Matter Aera is equipped with a 5 kWh, IP67-rated liquid-cooled battery, offering a certified range of up to 172 kilometers on a single charge. The liquid cooling system helps maintain optimal battery temperature, enhancing performance and extending battery life, especially in India’s varied climate conditions.
Beyond its advanced battery technology, the Aera features a 4-speed manual gearbox paired with three riding modes—Eco, City, and Sport—providing riders with a dynamic and customizable riding experience. The motorcycle can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in under 2.8 seconds, showcasing its robust performance capabilities.
Mohal Lalbhai, Founder & CEO of Matter, emphasized the company’s commitment to its customers, stating, “When you ride with Matter, we ride with you—for life. Our riders shouldn’t have to worry about what powers their bike. This Lifetime Battery Warranty is our way of saying: we’ve got your back.”
With this lifetime battery warranty, Matter sets a new industry standard in India’s electric two-wheeler segment, potentially influencing other manufacturers to enhance their warranty offerings. This move not only addresses a critical consumer concern but also reinforces Matter’s dedication to making electric mobility more accessible and worry-free for Indian riders.
