Among several initiatives aimed at preparing the capital city for important G-20 meetings, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a project to charge electric vehicles through e-charging stations located throughout the city. This was done to ensure that people driving e-vehicles do not encounter problems if the vehicles’ batteries discharge.
There are currently 97 e-vehicle charging stations in the national capital, with 27 more becoming operational today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Amit Bhardwaj said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be a part of the Delhi e-charging system. The city has so much to offer in terms of E- mobility service providers offer charging services to EV users by connecting them with different CPO operated EV charging networks and E-MSP’s helps EV users.”
Amarjeet Singh, CEO of BYPL said, “We have identified various sites, particularly in those places where the movement of e-vehicles. BSES will make the best efforts in terms of providing best quality e-charging network to the people of Delhi.”
An electric vehicle charging station is an equipment that connects an electric vehicle to a source of electricity to recharge electric cars, neighborhood electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
Charging stations are also called electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE).EVSE will be provided in municipal parking locations by electric utility companies or at retail shopping centers by private companies. These stations provide special connectors that conform to a variety of electric charging connector standards.
MCD is committed to provide better civic services to the citizens. MCD will install more such electric vehicle charging stations to cater to the requirements of electric cars of the general public.
