Mercedes-Benz India has expressed a desire for a single platform that provides real-time information on every charging station that is accessible in the country. By making it simpler for owners of electric vehicles to find and use charging stations, this could promote the adoption of these vehicles. Mercedes-Benz India’s MD and CEO, Santosh Iyer, emphasized the need for such a platform. He made the point that the current system, which has multiple apps, is convoluted and discourages people from converting to electric vehicles.

Iyer suggested a UPI-based system that is similar to the widely used digital payment system in India. Customers may easily locate charging stations and pay for their costs using only one app. He pointed out that such a system would be a significant improvement and make owning an electric vehicle much more convenient when compared to the existing disorganized scene.

Since the government has already expressed interest in doing so, Mercedes-Benz India believes that developing a single app for charging stations is a crucial first step in promoting the usage of electric vehicles in the country. The company notes that sales of electric vehicles have consistently increased, indicating growing consumer interest, but they believe that further growth is contingent upon a better user-friendly infrastructure for charging.
