Mercedes-Benz has initiated a significant over-the-air (OTA) update, deploying MBUX 2.6 to over two million vehicles globally. This update enhances the infotainment system with new features aimed at improving convenience, efficiency, and the overall driving experience.
A standout feature of the MBUX 2.6 update is the integration of Google Satellite View, providing high-resolution, bird’s-eye imagery to simplify navigation, particularly in rural or unfamiliar areas. This feature is available on vehicles equipped with the second- and third-generation MBUX systems and updates automatically for customers who have the Satellite View Digital Extra activated.
The update also introduces Live Alternative Routes for electric vehicles with second-generation MBUX, such as the G-Class, EQS, EQE, EQB, and EQA. This function works alongside Navigation with Electric Intelligence to calculate the most efficient routes, considering real-time traffic, distance, and estimated charging times, while allowing drivers to choose their preferred path.
