The Murugappa Group, based in Tamil Nadu, has launched its new Super Auto in Tirunelveli and has begun shipping the first 10 units to customers. marks a noteworthy milestone for Mantra Electric, the group’s EV division. Equipped with a 10kW lithium-ion battery, the recently unveiled Montra Super Auto is a marvel of modern engineering. With a full charge, it can go an impressive 155 +/- 5 km on the road, with an ARAI-certified range of 203 km. With a robust 3-year / 100,000 km warranty and an extra 2-year / 50 km extended warranty, Montra Electric reassures customers of its dependability.
During the Super Auto’s unveiling, Piyush Pandey, who oversees Marketing & Exports at Montra Electric, offered his opinions. He called it a design and innovation breakthrough with special features that will likely change the market. Pandey highlighted that the car would provide significant fuel and maintenance savings, increasing the consumers’ return on investment. He added that this luxury three-wheeler would provide users with an improved experience. The goal of Montra Electric is to build durable automobiles that help preserve the environment for future generations.
N Senthil Kumar, RR Greenline Motors’ managing director and a Montra Electric dealer partner in Tirunelveli, emphasized the car’s benefits for the environment and the economy. He said that buying an electric car had both economical and environmental advantages.
The Montra Super Auto received recognition on a global scale in November after taking up the Red Dot Design Award for 2023 in the “Design Concept” category under the heading of “Innovative Last Mile Mobility Electric Passenger Vehicle.” This award-winning car can go from 0 to 20 mph in under 4 seconds, can seat four people, including the driver, and has a top speed of 55 mph. It can produce 60 Nm of torque and 10kW of peak power. Available in two variants – the ePV and ePV 2.0 – the Super Auto’s dimensions are 2855mm in length, 1350mm in width, and 1750mm in height.
To lead the group’s entry into the EV industry, TI Cycles of India (TII), a Murugappa Group company, launched the Montra brand in December 2021 with an emphasis on last-mile travel, delivery, and personal mobility. The Super Auto is currently available through several touchpoints across the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, which were the first targets of the company’s rollouts.
