Neuron Energy, a well-known EV battery manufacturer, has partnered with an original two-wheeler equipment manufacturer to develop a manufacturing facility dedicated to the production of lithium-ion battery packs for electric two-wheelers.

The plant can produce 100 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy per month with a production capacity of 3,000 battery packs. The production capacity would be raised to 150 MWh with an investment of Rs 150 crore over the following two years, securing India’s place as a world leader in the EV ecosystem.

By addressing significant concerns including battery performance, cost, and scalability, the collaboration advances the Indian government’s objective of accelerating the adoption of EVs. It is expected that meeting India’s growing demand for electric two-wheelers will require the establishment of a specialized manufacturing base with robust production capabilities.

Pratik Kamdar, CEO and co-founder of Neuron Energy, said, “This partnership marks a significant milestone in our journey to enhance the electric two-wheeler market with advanced lithium-ion technology.” “By working with the OEM, we are combining our understanding of battery technology with their market leadership to give customers unmatched performance and reliability.”

Lithium-ion batteries are revolutionizing the EV industry because they have a higher energy density, a longer lifespan, and faster charging times than traditional lead-acid batteries. Since problems like production costs and a lack of local manufacturing have precluded widespread adoption, joint ventures like these are crucial for expanding productivity and reducing prices.

The Indian government has started several initiatives, such as the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles (FAME) projects, to promote the use of EVs. These include subsidies for EV buyers, incentives for manufacturers, and investments in charging infrastructure—all of which encourage cooperation and innovation.
