Nissan is getting ready to launch the Ariya electric SUV in the coming months, which comes after the X-Trail’s launch in India. With this decision, Nissan promotes Ariya as a competitive option against foreign cars such as the ID.4 SUV from Volkswagen and the Model Y from Tesla.

The Ariya made its debut on the world stage in 2020, and last year, testing were spotted in India. Its sleek look and form closely resemble the 2019 idea that was presented. The car is based on the CMF-EV platform, which is supported by the Renault Megane e-Tech electric SUV and is a component of the Renault Nissan Alliance.

Design-wise, the Ariya debuts a new “design” shield that, in some regions, includes an illuminated Nissan logo. Its powerful shoulder line that runs from the front to the back gives it a profile like a coupe. 19- or 20-inch wheels are fitted to the electric SUV, depending on the model and market. The dashboard has almost no buttons and two 12.3-inch screens that dominate the sleek, minimalist design of the interior. Most functions are controlled by an advanced haptic control technology, and higher-end models are equipped with a Bose music system and a standard heads-up display.

The Ariya is offered with two battery options (63kWh and 87kWh) and in single-motor, rear-wheel drive, dual-motor, and all-wheel drive variants worldwide. The 63kWh version has a range of 402 km and produces 217 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque; the 87kWh version has a range of 529 km and produces 242 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. The top-of-the-line 87kWh model has a range of up to 513 km and generates 306 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque.

Advanced driver assistance technologies, such as an enhanced version of Nissan’s ProPilot system, are also featured in the Ariya. It received a five-star crash test rating in 2022 from Euro NCAP.

Targeting the upmarket SUV market, Nissan’s Ariya SUV is anticipated to have a premium position in India. Limited quantities of the first batch of units have already been imported, and further details should become available soon. In the meantime, Nissan is getting ready to introduce the SUV X-Trail, which will make its Indian debut on August 1.
