Oben Electric has unveiled what it claims to be India’s most affordable electric vehicle (EV) battery protection plan, aiming to ease consumer concerns around long-term battery performance and replacement costs.
The new plan, available for Oben’s customers nationwide, offers extended battery coverage for up to eight years at a fraction of typical market prices. The company stated that pricing starts as low as ₹1,000 annually, making it accessible to a wide range of EV buyers.
According to Oben, the protection plan covers various battery-related issues, including performance degradation, manufacturing defects, and unexpected failures. The plan is designed to reduce ownership anxiety, a major barrier to EV adoption in India.
CEO Madhumita Agrawal emphasized that battery health is critical to an EV’s life cycle and resale value. “With this plan, we’re making electric mobility even more attractive and practical for Indian customers,” she said during the launch announcement.
The offering is part of Oben’s broader strategy to make EVs more affordable and sustainable for the mass market. The company recently expanded its manufacturing capacity and is looking to deepen its presence in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Oben also announced that the plan can be bundled with vehicle purchases or bought separately through its app and dealership network. Rollout of the battery protection plan begins this month across major Indian cities.
