Ola Electric Ltd., India’s largest producer of electric two-wheelers, has been working on a range of electric three-wheelers and is expected to launch the first model in the second half of 2025.
After the company’s second-quarter financial results were released, Ola Electric’s chairman and managing director, Bhavish Aggarwal, told investors, “We are working on three-wheelers.”
Although he did not mention the launch date, the company’s presentation states that a freight three-wheeler is set for the second half of 2026 and a passenger three-wheeler is planned for the second half of next year.
Its motor, electronics, and battery design are all on the same platform as our S1, which is the finest part. Agarwal claimed that the mechanics were the only distinction between the electric three-wheelers.
Three-wheelers are a growingly popular electric vehicle in India. Nearly 54% of the three-wheelers sold in the first half of the fiscal year were electric. Bajaj Auto and M&M are the two largest businesses in this area. Ola Electric holds over 30% of the market for electric two-wheelers. It aims to expand from the current 782 distribution sites to 2,000 by March.
The company is expected to enter the electric motorbike industry with the delivery of its Roadster series beginning in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal year.
