In order to provide other automakers with its electric systems and parts for similar luxury, limited-edition goods, RBW EV Cars, a UK startup that produces electric reproductions of historic sports cars, announced the establishment of a supplier firm.
The CEO, Peter Swain, told Reuters that RBW was working on limited-edition cars with three major manufacturers, but he could not say who they were.
Founded in 2017, RBW converts newly constructed bodies of two iconic MG car models, the MGB and MGB GT, into electric vehicles with a range of 155 miles (250 km) and starting prices of roughly 100,000 pounds ($130,000) using an EV battery and powertrain created by Continental unit Continental Engineering Services.
To yet, investors have given RBW $18 million. The business has started manufacturing EVs at a plant in Lichfield, central England. It intends to begin production at a second site in Danville, Virginia, in early 2025.
In addition to producing up to 3,000 EV systems for other automakers through its Spirit EV subsidiary, Swain stated that RBW aims to create 300 EVs under its own brand annually.
According to Swain, automakers might spend between $40,000 and $50,000 on RBW’s system, which is already authorized for use and in production, rather than spending millions developing their own.
He claims that RBW’s rear-wheel drive systems, which house the EV battery where the engine would have been, can be installed in any historic car body, including Mustangs, Aston Martins, and Corvettes.
