Renault Group and Geely Holding Group have taken their partnership to the next level with a new agreement aimed at advancing the development and marketing of zero- and low-emission vehicles in Brazil. This expanded collaboration comes as both companies seek to capitalize on the growing demand for environmentally friendly automobiles in Latin America’s largest car market.
Under the terms of the deal, Geely will acquire a minority stake in Renault do Brasil, which will allow the company to access local production, sales, and service resources. This collaboration will enable the companies to produce new green vehicle models alongside existing Renault offerings at the brand’s state-of-the-art facilities in São José dos Pinhais, Paraná.
Geely’s lineup of low-emission cars will be distributed through Renault do Brasil, giving the Chinese automaker an opportunity to expand its footprint in Brazil. In turn, Geely will benefit from Renault’s established presence and expertise in the South American market, which represents 44% of vehicle sales in Latin America.
Renault’s CEO, Luca de Meo, emphasized the strategic nature of the partnership, pointing to the successful ventures both companies have launched together in the past, including a joint venture in Korea. He noted that this new deal strengthens their trust and collaboration, positioning both brands for success in Brazil’s competitive automotive market.
The move is expected to further bolster the international growth of both Renault and Geely, cementing their positions as key players in Brazil. With an increasing focus on green technologies, the partnership aims to accelerate the shift toward sustainable mobility in the region.
