At the ChangeNOW 2025 Summit in Paris, Renault Group, alongside its subsidiary The Future Is NEUTRAL, presented significant advancements in sustainable mobility, focusing on circular economy practices and decarbonization strategies. These initiatives align with Renault’s “Renaulution” strategic plan, aiming to lead the automotive industry’s transition towards environmental responsibility.
The Future Is NEUTRAL introduced a pioneering remanufacturing program for electric vehicle components, including electric motors, power electronics, and traction batteries. This initiative offers reconditioned parts at up to 30% lower costs, reducing resource consumption and CO₂ emissions. Production is set to commence in 2024 at the Flins plant in France, with an annual capacity exceeding 3,000 units.
Renault’s circular economy framework encompasses four key areas: Re-trofit, Re-energy, Re-cycle, and Re-start. These sectors focus on extending vehicle life, managing green energy, recycling materials, and transforming workforce skills. Facilities in Flins, Bursa, and Seville are central to these operations, supporting Renault’s goal of incorporating 33% recycled materials in new vehicles by 2030 and achieving net-zero carbon emissions in Europe by 2040.
The Renault Emblème concept car, developed in collaboration with ArcelorMittal, exemplifies the company’s commitment to low-carbon mobility. Utilizing advanced high-strength steels and recycled materials, the Emblème achieves a 90% reduction in CO₂ emissions over its lifecycle compared to traditional models.
Renault’s decarbonization strategy addresses the entire vehicle lifecycle, from design to recycling. The company has reduced its carbon footprint per vehicle by 28% since 2010 and aims for a 62.5% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 27.5% reduction in scope 3 emissions by 2030. Initiatives include partnerships for low-carbon material sourcing and the development of electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles.
Through these comprehensive efforts, Renault Group demonstrates a robust commitment to sustainable innovation, positioning itself as a leader in the automotive industry’s shift towards environmental stewardship.
