Electric vehicle startup River has achieved a major milestone, surpassing ₹100 crore in revenue just four years after its inception. The company’s flagship product, the Indie electric scooter, has consistently sold 1,000 units per month since its launch two years ago, solidifying River’s position in the growing EV market.
Co-founder and CEO Aravind Mani credited the company’s strong foundation in production, distribution, and R&D for its rapid success. Mani emphasized that these achievements set the stage for further expansion and new product development in the coming years.
Currently, River operates 20 outlets across key cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi. The company plans to further strengthen its presence by opening new stores in Pune, Vijayawada, and Trivandrum. By 2026, River aims to establish dealerships and company-owned stores in more than 100 cities nationwide.
The Bengaluru-based company is backed by major investors such as Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsui & Co. Ltd, Toyota Ventures, and Lowercarbon Capital. Founded in March 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, River has quickly attracted attention with its urban-focused electric solutions.
The Indie, dubbed the “SUV of scooters,” stands out for its rugged design and ample storage, catering to city dwellers’ needs. River’s strategy of focusing on Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities has allowed it to tap into the surging demand for sustainable mobility options across India.
