Homegrown electric vehicle startup River Indie has achieved a major milestone with its flagship product, the Indie electric scooter, surpassing 7,000 units in sales across India. The company marked this achievement within a short span, signaling growing demand for premium utility-focused EVs in the country.
The River Indie, launched in early 2023, has quickly gained traction due to its rugged design, large boot space, and versatile features tailored for urban commuters. Its bold aesthetics and practical functionality have made it a standout in the rapidly expanding electric two-wheeler segment.
River currently retails the Indie electric scooter across 18 cities, including major metros like Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and Mumbai. The startup aims to expand its retail network to 50 cities by March 2025, ensuring better accessibility for customers.
The company attributes its growing popularity to the scooter’s unique blend of performance and utility. With a top speed of 90 km/h and a certified range of 120 km, the Indie targets riders who prioritize both commuting comfort and cargo-carrying capability.
River also emphasized its continued investment in enhancing customer experience and after-sales service. The Indie comes with two spacious storage compartments—a 43-litre under-seat space and a 12-litre glove box—catering especially to delivery professionals and utility riders.
With over 7,000 units now on the road, River Mobility reinforces its position as one of the most promising new-age EV startups in India. The company remains committed to offering innovative, Made-in-India electric solutions that combine style, strength, and substance.
