Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the largest electric utilities in the United States, is planning to add more than 280 Chevrolet Silverado EV Work Trucks (WTs) to its service fleet. SCE’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs while acquiring a fleet of fully electric light-duty vehicles is demonstrated by this program.
Because the Silverado EV WT is designed to be a robust and reliable all-electric truck, it perfectly fits with SCE’s goals. Reputable for its dependability and zero-emission performance, the Silverado EV WT can handle challenging jobs without requiring gasoline.
“The deployment is a critical step in SCE’s commitment to electrify our fleet and reduce greenhouse gas emissions,” said Todd Carlson, Principal Manager of Fleet at Southern California Edison. Our goal at SCE is to establish the benchmark for California’s renewable energy transition. By working with partners like Chevrolet, we can incorporate high-performing electric vehicles while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving Southern California’s air quality.
The use of these EV trucks by SCE is a component of a broader strategy to support renewable energy sources and act as a template for utilities nationwide.
Sandor Piszar, vice president of GM Envolve, said he was thrilled about the partnership. We are excited to collaborate with progressive clients like Southern California Edison to meet their electrification goals with the Chevrolet Silverado EV WT as part of their fleet transformation. The Silverado EV WT combines the dependability and performance that business clients want with the benefits and low cost of ownership of electric power.
SCE continues to be a leader in integrating sustainable practices into its operations while also contributing to California’s clean energy future with this deployment.
