In a tribute to its historic roots, Skoda has unveiled the Laurin & Klement Slavia B Concept, a new electric motorcycle that blends legacy with modern innovation. The concept pays homage to the original Slavia B motorcycle from 1899, which played a pivotal role in Skoda’s transition into automobile manufacturing.
The new Slavia B Concept, designed by Skoda’s in-house specialist Romain Bucaille, preserves the traditional aesthetic while incorporating contemporary electric technologies. This latest creation reflects a perfect balance between honoring the brand’s past and embracing the future of e-mobility.
The original Slavia B was notable for its time, featuring a 240cc air-cooled engine that produced 1.75 horsepower and could reach speeds up to 40 km/h. Uniquely, it used pedals for starting and additional propulsion, and had a direct flat belt drive system, making it revolutionary in early 20th-century motorbike engineering.
Today, although Skoda is recognized globally for its automobiles, the company’s beginnings are deeply rooted in bicycle and motorcycle production under the Laurin & Klement name. The Slavia B Concept revisits this era with a modern electric twist, underlining Skoda’s enduring passion for innovation.
