Suzuki is preparing to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market strategically, capitalising on the enthusiasm generated by the introduction of its eVX concept last year. The production-ready eVX will be on display during the upcoming January 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, the business has revealed. This occasion represents a critical turning point in Suzuki’s development from idea to production-ready products. The car will be produced in India, demonstrating Suzuki’s dedication to utilising regional know-how and assets. But before it is released in India and then Japan, it will make its commercial debut in Europe, a place that has demonstrated strong acceptance and enthusiasm for EVs.

The expanding electric vehicle market in Europe offers Suzuki a significant chance to gain market share. In contrast to some of its rivals, Suzuki is moving more quickly with its EV launches in an effort to break into the low-cost EV market. It is believed that this strategic decision will increase Suzuki’s market presence by providing affordable electric automobiles that appeal to consumers who are cost-conscious.

After Europe, Suzuki intends to launch the eVX in its native Japan and subsequently in India, where it enjoys a substantial market share and makes a substantial profit. According to this deliberate deployment, India may have access to the eVX by the first quarter of FY2026.

The eVX will be Suzuki’s newest offering in the D-segment of electric SUVs in India. After making its debut at the 2023 Auto Expo, the eVX underwent additional development prior to its 2023 Japanese Mobility Show debut. With an outstanding range of roughly 500 km, the eVX is positioned to take on established vehicles such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Carens EV, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Honda Elevate EV, and Mahindra XUV.e8. It is designed to compete in a crowded field. Suzuki’s deliberate foray into the electric vehicle (EV) sector demonstrates its dedication to innovation and flexibility in response to the changing automotive environment.
