In an effort to continue the tradition of double-decker buses in the city, Switch Mobility has delivered the first set of Switch EiV 22 to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), Mumbai.

Switch EiV 22 bills itself as India’s first and only electric double-decker air-conditioned bus, developed, produced, and using the experience of electric buses from around the world. The electric double-decker bus makes the claim to have the most up-to-date technology, cutting-edge design, highest level of safety, and best-in-class comfort features.

The Switch EiV 22, India’s first electric double-decker, will be introduced in August 2022, according to Mahesh Babu, Chief Executive Officer of Switch Mobility Ltd. The company is dedicated to realising its vision of democratising zero-carbon mobility through innovative, technologically cutting-edge products. Delivering the first of 200 electric double-deckers to Bext makes us happy and proud. The Switch EiV 22 will continue the tradition of double deckers in Mumbai for the foreseeable future and will strengthen Best’s recent commitment to sustainability.

The Switch electric double-decker claims to be able to transport nearly twice as many seated passengers as a comparable single-decker bus. It has two staircases, an emergency door that complies with the most recent safety regulations, and wide front and back doors.

A 231 kWh capacity, 2-string, liquid-cooled, higher density NMC chemistry battery pack with a dual gun charging system powers the Switch EiV 22 electric bus and boasts a range of up to 250 km for intra-city applications.
