Tata Motors has achieved a significant milestone in India’s electric vehicle (EV) sector with its Tata Curvv.ev, setting the record for the fastest drive from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The SUV coupe completed the 3,800-kilometer journey in an impressive 76 hours and 35 minutes, surpassing the previous record by over 19 hours.
The journey, which began on February 25, 2025, in Srinagar, saw the Curvv.ev tackle diverse terrains, including hilly and coastal areas, in varying weather conditions. Tata’s innovative technology and the growing national EV charging infrastructure played a crucial role in this achievement, with the vehicle making just 16 charging stops.
The Curvv.ev’s success highlights significant advancements in battery efficiency and the rapid expansion of high-speed EV chargers across Indian highways. The 16 stops reduced the charging time to 17 hours, a notable improvement from the previous 28 hours. This reflects the progress made in both EV technology and infrastructure in the country.
The record-breaking journey culminated in Kanyakumari on February 28, 2025, where Tata Motors was warmly received by local officials, including Thiru Vijay Vasanth, the Member of Parliament. The Curvv.ev’s completion of this landmark journey marks a major achievement for the company and the EV sector at large.
Tata Motors’ feat underscores the growing acceptance and potential of electric mobility in India. With rapid advancements in EV technology and the expansion of the charging network, the future of electric vehicles in the country looks brighter than ever.
