Tata.ev, the largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer in India, has taken a significant step towards global expansion by introducing its EV portfolio in Mauritius. In partnership with Allied Motors, a leading automobile distributor in the island nation, Tata.ev aims to boost sustainable transportation solutions. This launch, which took place on March 28, 2025, marks Tata.ev’s first venture outside the SAARC region.
The launch event introduced three electric vehicle models: Tiago.ev, Punch.ev, and Nexon.ev, all designed with high-voltage architectures to provide superior performance, safety, and comfort. The introduction of these models is a key component of Mauritius’s move towards more sustainable mobility options.
Yash Khandelwal, Head of International Business at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., emphasized the importance of Mauritius as a strategic market due to the government’s strong commitment to green initiatives. He expressed confidence in Tata.ev’s ability to support the country’s transition to electric mobility with its experience in India and other SAARC nations.
James Ngan, Managing Director of Allied Motors, shared his excitement about the partnership, highlighting the high efficiency, power, and technology embedded in Tata.ev’s offerings. The collaboration is expected to be a game-changer, meeting the growing demand for sustainable transport in Mauritius.
Tata.ev’s offerings in Mauritius come with impressive specifications. The Tiago.ev features a 24kWh battery, offering a range of 190-210 km, while the Punch.ev comes with a 35kWh battery for a range of 270-290 km. The Nexon.ev, Tata.ev’s flagship model, offers the longest range of 350-375 km with its 45kWh battery.
Each vehicle is covered by an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the battery and motor, and a 7-year or 150,000 km warranty on the vehicle itself. Customers will also receive a free 7.2 kW Home Charging Wall Box. This expansion is aligned with Mauritius’s broader push for green energy solutions and is expected to play a pivotal role in reducing the country’s carbon emissions.
