In a significant move to strengthen India’s electric mobility ecosystem, Tata Motors has announced its ambitious plan to expand its EV charging network fivefold. The initiative is aimed at accelerating electric vehicle adoption across the country by ensuring wider and more accessible charging infrastructure.

The company revealed that it currently operates over 8,000 public and semi-public charging points in collaboration with Tata Power and other charge point operators. The new expansion will take this figure to more than 40,000 over the next year, marking a substantial investment in India’s EV future.

Tata Motors’ EV charging expansion aligns with its broader goal of democratizing electric mobility in India. The company emphasized that the infrastructure growth will include fast-charging stations along highways, urban centers, and residential areas to address range anxiety and improve user convenience.

Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, stated that creating a reliable charging network is key to customer confidence. “Beyond selling EVs, we’re committed to building the infrastructure that supports real-world usage and long-distance travel,” he said.

The expansion strategy is part of Tata’s multi-pronged EV roadmap, which includes launching new electric models and deepening its partnership with Tata Power. The move is also expected to benefit Tata’s growing fleet customers and commercial EV users who depend on regular and rapid charging access.

As Tata Motors continues to lead India’s EV revolution, the massive infrastructure upgrade is set to play a pivotal role in driving EV adoption, reducing emissions, and supporting the government’s goal of a cleaner, more sustainable transportation future.
