Tesla Slashes Cybertruck Prices in Aggressive Push to Boost Sales

In a bold move to rev up sluggish demand, Tesla has introduced its largest discount yet on the Cybertruck. This comes as the company scrambles to meet delivery targets and counter mixed market reception of its much-hyped electric pickup. The steep discount reflects growing urgency within Tesla to stimulate interest amid production ramp-up challenges.

Tesla is now offering a $16,000 discount on select Cybertruck units, particularly the Foundation Series variants. The new pricing brings the cost of the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version down from $99,990 to $79,990. Similarly, the tri-motor “Cyberbeast” has seen its price drop from $119,990 to $99,990. However, the offer is currently limited to inventory models and includes a one-year resale restriction.

The Foundation Series, which includes premium features and early delivery, was initially expected to attract enthusiasts and early adopters. But with demand softening and Tesla missing internal projections, this aggressive price cut signals the automakers growing concern over the Cybertruck’s mass appeal. Analysts suggest the price drop could be aimed at clearing unsold inventory and attracting fence-sitters.

Tesla’s discount also aligns with a broader trend in the EV market, where manufacturers are cutting prices to remain competitive. While the Cybertruck generated massive buzz at launch, real-world challenges—like its unconventional design and limited utility comparisons—have dampened buyer enthusiasm. Some reports indicate production bottlenecks at Tesla’s Giga Texas facility are also contributing to delayed rollouts.

Despite Elon Musk’s strong vision for the Cybertruck as a future-forward vehicle, market analysts believe the drastic price reduction reveals deeper cracks in Tesla’s strategy for this model. As other automakers, including Ford and Rivian, refine their electric truck offerings, Tesla appears to be recalibrating expectations for its polarizing pickup.

The coming quarters will be crucial for Tesla to regain momentum in the electric truck space. Whether this deep discount reinvigorates Cybertruck sales or further undermines its perceived value will likely define its trajectory. For now, the price cut is a sharp signal: Tesla is willing to sacrifice margins to stay in the EV race.
