At the 2025 India Energy Week, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) presented its commitment to sustainable mobility by showcasing a diverse range of eco-friendly vehicles. With a focus on reducing reliance on fossil fuels, TKM displayed models featuring alternative powertrains. Key highlights included the Innova Hycross with hybrid electric technology and E20 gasoline compatibility, alongside a Prius prototype that runs on ethanol and integrates plug-in hybrid technology.
TKM’s display also featured the hydrogen-powered Mirai and a new urban electric vehicle concept. Additionally, the company highlighted locally produced e-Drive systems, which are crucial components in electrified vehicles.
Beyond its innovative vehicles, Toyota Kirloskar has made significant strides in reducing its carbon footprint. The company has lowered its CO2 emissions by over 447,000 tonnes since 2013, and all manufacturing processes are now powered by renewable energy. With a commitment to environmental sustainability, TKM has also shifted a major portion of its logistics operations to rail, reducing CO2 emissions by 7.7 kg per vehicle this year.
As part of its ongoing efforts to support India’s energy independence, Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts has become the first plant outside Japan to manufacture e-Drive systems, contributing to both local and international markets. Furthermore, the company is working with over 100 educational institutions to train more than 180,000 young individuals in automotive skills.
In line with India’s push for biofuels, Toyota’s focus on ethanol-based technologies also supports rural economies and the agricultural sector.
