Using their combined knowledge in power electronics management, Valeo and ROHM Semiconductor work together to suggest and enhance the upcoming generation of power modules for electric motor inverters. For future powertrain solutions, ROHM will first supply Valeo with its 2-in-1 Silicon Carbide (SiC) molded module TRCDRIVE packTM.

From the tiniest (ebikes) to the most popular (passenger vehicles) and largest (eTrucks), Valeo is expanding access to effective, electrified mobility across a range of vehicle types and markets. Valeo advances the power electronics solution by fusing ROHM’s power modules with Valeo’s mechatronics, thermal management, and software development experience. This helps improve the performance, efficiency, and decarbonization of automotive systems globally.

Since 2022, Valeo and ROHM have been working together, first concentrating on technical discussions to enhance the functionality and efficiency of the motor inverter, a crucial part of plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and electric vehicle (EV) propulsion systems. Both businesses want to provide optimal cost/performance by improving power electronics through increased energy efficiency, decreased heat generation from improved cooling and mechatronic integration, and increased overall dependability through SiC packaging.

According to Valeo Power Division CEO Xavier DUPONT, “this partnership represents a significant step forward for Valeo Power Division in delivering advanced and high-efficient power electronics.” “By working together, we hope to accelerate the shift to more economical and efficient electric mobility and establish new industry standards for high voltage inverters.”

We are happy to provide our power semiconductors to Valeo, a well-known automotive supplier. The high power density of ROHM’s TRCDRIVE packTM results in increased power efficiency. By encouraging the partnership with Valeo, we jointly aid in the creation of extremely efficient powertrains,” states Wolfram HARNACK, President of ROHM Semiconductor GmbH.

All of these advancements are necessary to meet the increasing demand for BEV and PHEV inverters that are high-performing and reasonably priced, as well as those that have faster charging speeds and a longer range.

Early in 2026, Valeo will begin providing a first series project. Valeo and ROHM will work together to reduce the size and increase the efficiency of Valeo’s upcoming xEV inverter generation.
