VinFast, Vietnam’s fast-growing electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has unveiled its first authorized dealership in the U.S. state of California, marking a pivotal shift in its American growth strategy.
Tucked in San Diego and operated by Sunroad Automotive Group, this debut dealership will introduce Californians to the all-electric VF 8 and VF 9 SUVs. Customers can now purchase, lease, test drive, and access full after-sales support including maintenance, repairs, and genuine spare parts.
This move represents a strategic departure from VinFast’s earlier direct-to-consumer model. Management acknowledged that challenges in the U.S., including softening demand and trade-tariff uncertainties, necessitated a pivot toward the proven dealership approach.
VinFast is committing to fast-track its dealer footprint — California leads the charge, with plans to expand across the state, supported by an existing network of over 30 authorized dealerships in 15 U.S. states.
The company is also leveraging competitive pricing and robust warranties: the VF 8 retails from $39,900 (Eco) and $44,900 (Plus), while the flagship VF 9 starts at $62,900. Attractive financing options include 0% interest and leasing starting from $269/month, plus a 10‑year/125,000‑mile vehicle warranty and lifetime battery warranty.
VinFast isn’t just looking at passenger vehicles—it’s also exploring electric buses for the U.S. market, part of its broader goal to champion green transportation nationwide.
This California dealership signals VinFast’s ambition to more deeply embed itself in the world’s largest EV market. By blending franchise partnerships with an aggressive expansion strategy, the company is laying the groundwork for a sustainable and long-term presence in the U.S.
