Built on Volvo’s global BZR electromobility platform, this new model aims to enhance the country’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems by offering cleaner and more efficient public transportation options.
High Capacity and Advanced Features
The Volvo 7800 Electric bi-articulated bus measures 25.6 meters in length and can accommodate up to 300 passengers, while the articulated version holds up to 191 passengers. Both models feature a charging capacity of 250 kWh, ensuring efficient operations for urban transit. Additionally, they are equipped with Volvo’s latest active safety systems, enhancing protection for pedestrians and cyclists.
Manufacturing and Delivery Plans
Both the bi-articulated and articulated versions of the Volvo 7800 Electric will be manufactured at Volvo Buses’ facility in Mexico. The company anticipates that the first units will be delivered starting in 2026, marking a significant step in the country’s transition to electric public transportation.
