The smallest electric vehicle that Volvo has ever produced, the EX30, will go on sale in India in 2025, according to the Swedish luxury automaker. In a press conference in Delhi, Martin Persson, Head of Volvo Cars for Asia Pacific (excluding China), declared, “The EX30 is our most environmentally friendly car to date; its CO2 footprint is far smaller than that of other automobiles.” Cost is a consideration, of course, but I think those who are concerned about the environment will find it intriguing.

The EX30 is a tech-heavy car, with features and design borrowed from the larger EX90. The SUV is usable with two different battery pack types in several nations. First, 51 kWh of LFP are used.

The firm also stated that the EX90 will go on sale in India at the same time as the EX30. “We have a very clear plan: we want to launch one new BEV model annually. The next two in the range are SUVs, however there might be more body types after that. At the moment, India is our smallest market in the region, but I don’t think it will last. Persson anticipated that the premium segment of the market would electrify more swiftly than the mass market, stating, “I would expect higher growth in India than in the rest of the region.”

Jyoti Malhotra, MD of Volvo Cars India, said: “We sell more than 25% of our inventory in India as electric. With the EX30, we hope to break into a new market segment, so I’m sure it will help us expand even more.”

Volvo presently sells two electric cars in India: the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge. The EX40 and EC40 names for these EVs, respectively, will be implemented shortly in accordance with the company’s new name. The company just shipped 1,000 electric cars to the Indian market, marking an important milestone.
