In a major move to strengthen the electric vehicle (EV) battery supply chain, China-based Wanhua Chemical has partnered with Serbian battery innovator ElevenEs. This strategic agreement aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of advanced battery materials, focusing particularly on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology.

The collaboration is set to bring Wanhua’s cutting-edge chemical expertise and material science innovation to ElevenEs’ large-scale battery production processes. ElevenEs, known for its pioneering work on LFP battery cells in Europe, will benefit from Wanhua’s specialty chemical solutions to optimize performance, cost, and scalability.

The alliance will focus on enhancing cathode and electrolyte materials to support ElevenEs’ production of sustainable LFP batteries. These batteries are emerging as a safer, more cost-effective alternative to traditional lithium-ion cells, making them ideal for widespread EV applications and stationary energy storage systems.

Both companies emphasized the importance of green and sustainable innovation. The partnership is expected to advance the use of non-toxic, recyclable materials in battery production while maintaining high energy density and long lifecycle performance. This aligns with global goals for cleaner transportation and reduced carbon emissions.

Wanhua’s global R&D capabilities, combined with ElevenEs’ breakthrough LFP technologies, are expected to provide a strong foundation for creating next-gen battery materials. The collaboration also marks an important step in establishing a resilient EV battery ecosystem in Europe, reducing reliance on non-European sources.

As EV adoption surges worldwide, such international alliances are becoming critical in shaping the future of energy storage. This Wanhua–ElevenEs partnership is poised to play a pivotal role in advancing Europe’s battery independence and supporting the continent’s green mobility transition.
