Lohia Auto newly launched Youdha brand has unveiled the EPOD, a fully electric passenger three‑wheeler in the L5 category, priced at ₹2.79 lakh ex‑factory. Aimed at urban and semi‑urban markets, the product launch marks the company’s first step into the passenger EV space beyond e‑rickshaws.
The EPOD is powered by a 6 kW electric motor delivering 50 Nm of torque, coupled with an 11.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. It boasts a certified range of 227 km per charge, dual City and Boost driving modes, plus a 300 mm water‑wading capability, making it versatile for varied Indian road and weather conditions.
Manufactured in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, at a plant with an annual capacity of 100,000 units, the EPOD is initially being rolled out in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam—chosen for their high usage of three‑wheelers and fast adoption of EVs. A phased national expansion is planned.
Youdha aims to leverage rising fuel costs, demand for last‑mile mobility, and government EV incentives. India remains the world’s largest market for electric three‑wheelers, with annual sales nearing 700,000 units as of 2024—a 20 percent increase year‑on‑year—driven largely by supportive schemes like PM E‑DRIVE.
CEO Ayush Lohia, addressing the launch, said the company aims for ₹1,000 crore in cumulative revenue from its EV portfolio by 2030. Youdha’s strategy includes introducing wide‑body variants seating six passengers and venturing into electric cargo models, before expanding into two‑wheelers under a separate brand within two years.
Built on Lohia Auto’s legacy in electric mobility and designed to empower drivers, the Youdha brand—including its warrior‑inspired logo and tagline—targets both economic viability and aspirational appeal for mobility entrepreneurs. The EPOD rollout signals a broader shift from traditional e‑rickshaws toward a comprehensive commercial EV ecosystem.
