ZF has revealed new developments in safety technology for this industry. ZF is well-known for its strong development of safety systems for commercial vehicles intended to improve driving safety and lower accident risks. ZF is a worldwide provider that provides the commercial vehicle industry with a broad range of products, from individual parts to entire system solutions. ZF continues to push the boundaries of ADAS technologies, increasing safety system innovation through the use of cross-divisional technology transfer capabilities.

The sophisticated software and algorithms that identify possible dangers in surrounding objects are the foundation of ZF’s ADAS technology. These clever technologies have the ability to recognize driver weariness or distraction and determine what kind of intervention, warning, or action is required.

Intelligent systems that combine software, sensors, and automated braking make up ZF’s range of GSR ADAS technologies. The cameras and radars in this suite are skilled at spotting objects on the road, including cars, bikes, and pedestrians, even when they are in blind areas. In addition, it keeps an eye on lane markers and speed signs. Tyre pressure systems make sure that tires are properly inflated, reducing the possibility of blowouts.

ZF has developed a system for highway driving that helps prevent collisions by avoiding the risky situation of a truck trying to overtake while another vehicle is occupying the target lane. This system is an evolution of the industry-leading Highway Assist Lane Change (HALC) project. This system is supported by ZF’s latest braking and steering platforms—OnGuardMAX, mBSP XBS, and ReAX—and an additional cabin camera that keeps a continuous check on driver alertness. It makes sure that lane changes are conducted properly following the appropriate checks and driver signals, and it maintains safe distances from vehicles in front.

The cloud-based database and sensor data are combined by the friction-adapted ADAS system to evaluate the state of the road surface. In order to improve road anticipation and traction estimation and support the efficacy of safety systems such as the Autonomous Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Antilock Braking Systems (ABS), and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), this allows vehicles to exchange information about the state of the road.

Furthermore, ZF is leading the way in trailer technology with an advanced truck-trailer interface that enables fast, real-time data and image exchanges. Functional safety is given first priority in its design, and the trailer has several cameras that help the driver by showing blind spots. The automated braking element of the device further improves reversing assistance.
