Mahindra & Mahindra have revealed intentions to electrify their affordable off-road SUV, the Mahindra Thar. The new electric car, known as the Mahindra Thar.e, will make its premiere on August 16 in Cape Town, South Africa. The Indian carmaker will also display a brand-new pick-up truck idea and a brand-new global tractor platform. It should be noted that this is the first time the corporation has alluded to electrifying the well-liked lifestyle SUV.

According to the teaser, the design of the Mahindra Thar EV or Mahindra Thar.e would differ significantly from the ICE version of the lifestyle SUV. The brand-new electric has a very contemporary appearance while maintaining its heritage. The teaser specifically depicts new branding, vertical tail lamps, and round LED headlamps.

Along with the other concepts displayed under the XUV and BE. brands, the Thar.e will be another extension of the Indian automaker’s commitment to electrification. The business chose not to provide any information on the new electric vehicle’s specifications, though.

The INGLO skateboard platform is anticipated to be used by the upcoming electric SUV. Furthermore, it’s likely that Thar.e will keep its ICE-powered predecessor’s off-road capability. Mahindra Thar.e might obtain a 60 kWh battery pack operating with a dual-motor system based on the track record of the corporation.

A 2.0-liter mStallion turbo-petroleum engine with 150 hp is also available, but the Mahindra Thar is presently only offered with a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine that produces 128 hp. There is also a RWD version with a 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 117 horsepower. In the Indian market, the SUV’s entry-level cost is Rs 10.54 lakh (ex-showroom).
