Yulu has revealed a partnership with Zomato for intra-city deliveries using Yulu DeX EV. As part of the agreement, approximately 25,000 – 35,000 Yulu DeX will be distributed to delivery partners on Zomato’s network for last-mile deliveries on customised rental plans.

This is Zomato’s third EV collaboration, the company recently announced a partnership with Sun Mobility and Gogoro for battery-swapping technology in the nation.

According to the partners, increasing fuel costs and financial challenges are significant barriers for young people who want to become delivery partners. The Yulu DeX low-speed e-scooter is said to fix most of these issues and provide a mobility solution that is accessible to all. According to Yulu, it has flexible rental packs and enables delivery partners to earn more money than ICE vehicles.

In addition, the transport partners will have access to Yuma Energy’s extensive network of battery-swapping stations, which will help them minimise downtime during last-mile deliveries. Yulu says that once deployed, these 25,000-plus Yulu DeX will be able to serve 3 lakh green deliveries per day by 2026.

“With Yulu’s deep understanding of the delivery ecosystem, purpose-built product DeX, robust operations, and a wide network of battery swapping stations, our solutions can improve earnings of delivery partners by up to 40%,” said Pradeep Puranam, Head – Revenue & Operations, Yulu.

“As part of The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative, we have committed to transitioning our delivery fleet to 100 percent electric, and with Yulu’s support, we are glad to be on the right path to achieve this target,” said Mohit Sardana, COO, Food Delivery at Zomato.

As of February 2023, over 4,000 delivery partners onboarded on Zomato’s platform use Yulu’s EVs to perform last-mile deliveries.
