In a significant step towards sustainable travel, FlixBus India, in partnership with ETO Motors, has introduced an electric bus service on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route, celebrating its first anniversary in the country. Telangana’s Transport Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, officially launched the service at ITC Kakatiya, with key figures like FlixBus India MD Surya Khurana and German Embassy Counsellor Alexander Reck in attendance.
The service will begin operations in the last week of February, initially running four electric buses. A two-week trial phase will precede a 12-week review period to monitor battery performance and booking patterns. To support the fleet, Thunder Plus will install 240 KW fast chargers at depots. The buses will be equipped with advanced safety features such as dashcams, GPS, and ADAS.
FlixBus has expanded its network extensively, with over 400 connections in South India and 500 in the North, with notable routes including Bangalore-Hyderabad, Chennai-Madurai, and Delhi-Lucknow. The company has witnessed a sixfold increase in monthly ridership over the past year.
FlixBus continues to push forward with plans to extend its reach across India while maintaining a focus on safety and service quality. Globally, Flix aims for carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040 and worldwide by 2050.
