Volvo Trucks, in collaboration with Putzmeister, has introduced one of the world’s largest battery-electric concrete pump trucks at the Bauma exhibition in Munich, Germany. This zero-exhaust emission vehicle features a 42-meter reach and is set to be delivered to Swedish construction company Swerock.
The electric pump truck is capable of driving up to 50 kilometers and subsequently pumping approximately 50 cubic meters of concrete without requiring a recharge. For extended operations, a Combined Charging System (CCS) can be installed on-site, allowing the truck to charge while simultaneously pumping concrete.
Christoph Fitz, Head of Sales at Volvo Trucks Germany, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation in electric trucks, stating, “We are proud to show yet another world-class innovation for the construction segment here at Bauma.”
Swerock’s Managing Director, Angelika Bohlin, highlighted the environmental and workplace benefits of the new electric pump, noting that eliminating emissions represents a crucial environmental investment while enhancing workplace conditions for employees.
This development underscores Volvo Trucks’ ongoing efforts to provide fully electric solutions for the construction industry, encompassing the entire process from transport to mixing and pumping. The collaboration with Putzmeister and Swerock exemplifies the industry’s move towards sustainable and efficient construction equipment.
